Letter from the Executive Associate Athletics Director of Compliance
Dear Athletic Department Staff:
This Compliance Website has been created to assist you in your efforts to comply with the university, the Mountain West Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. As you well know, each member institution of the NCAA is required to concentrate efforts to comply with the hundreds of bylaws and provisions outlined by the NCAA. Each Division I, II and III institution must demonstrate institutional control over its athletics department, student-athletes and institutional staff members.
Accordingly, the UNLV athletic department has formal institutional policies and procedures for compliance in place; these policies and procedures are monitored, enforced and are established in such a way as to deter violations before they occur. The Office of NCAA Compliance is responsible for ensuring that the communication of compliance procedures occurs clearly and regularly, and that steps are taken to alter or correct a compliance system when their are indications the system is not working. This virtual Guide to Compliance is a valuable resource to all new and continuing staff members. At UNLV, we take pride in creating and maintaining an atmosphere that reminds individuals that compliance is a "shared responsibility" among the boosters, coaches, staff members and student athletes. With this perspective, it is our hope that we will continue to have one of the finest compliance systems in the country.
If I can ever be of any service or assistance to you or your staff, please feel free to visit my office located in TMC-105. On behalf of UNLV and the athletics department, WELCOME, and always remember to "Ask Before You Act." Go Rebels!!!
