Feb. 22, 2018 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Athletics announced Thursday that Aldo and Dawn Madrigrano will donate $1 million toward the new home of Rebel Football, the state-of-the-art Fertitta Football Complex.
"Dawn and I are very excited to have our family name in what will be a great facility," said Aldo Madrigrano. "Now that we are residents of Las Vegas, we feel it is important to give to the university that gives back to this great city every day."
More than $23 million has been committed to the project since it was announced in 2016. The building, which will cost approximately $28 million, will open in early 2019 after the university celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony last month.
"The Fertitta Football Complex is becoming a reality because of the generosity of people such as Aldo and Dawn Madrigrano," said UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois. "You cannot overstate the positive impact that this project, along with our new stadium opening in 2020, will have on our football program, our university and this entire city."
UNLV Athletics announced the largest single gift in its history in September 2016, as the Fertitta Family pledged $10 million toward the facility. The 73,000-square-foot, two-level complex will be built on campus in the north end of the team's practice area and will overlook the Ernie Becker Sr. Football Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Rebel Park. The Fertitta Football Complex will be the day-to-day home of the football program and include an academic center, locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms, strength & conditioning center, media room, training table and nutrition bar, athletic training center and player lounge.
"The tremendous generosity of the Madrigrano Family will make a lasting difference in our program both athletically and academically," said UNLV football head coach Tony Sanchez. "The support we continue to receive from donors throughout Southern Nevada is helping us transform Rebel Football."
