LAS VEGAS - Four of UNLV's very own were named to the 2003 Las Vegas Review-Journal Best of Las Vegas list in a recently published readers' poll.

Constance Jinks, a 5-foot-7 senior guard for the Lady Rebels, and Marcus Banks, a 6-foot-2 senior guard for the Runnin' Rebels, were the readers' and newspaper's unanimous pick for local female and male college athlete. Both Jinks and Banks are considered to be NBA and WNBA draft prospects and were selected to this year's All-Mountain West Conference first team.

UNLV men's basketball coach Charlie Spoonhour, in his second year with the Runnin' Rebels, was the readers' choice for best local coach.

Former Rebel Keenan McCardell rounded out all UNLV honorees with the newspaper's pick for best local professional athlete. A standout wide receiver for the Rebels from 1987-90, McCardell recently won Super Bowl XXXVII as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
