UNLV To Celebrate National Student-Athlete Day|
April 5, 2006
LAS VEGAS - UNLV Athletics will be taking part in National Student-Athlete Day on Thursday, April 6, with an evening of food, music and Rebel baseball.
Started in 1987, National Student-Athlete Day is celebrated every April 6th across the country by high schools and universities to honor outstanding student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics while having made significant contributions to the community. The day is also a time to recognize those parents, teachers, coaches and school systems which make it possible for young people to find the balance between academics and athletics.
UNLV will honor its own student-athletes, beginning at 4:45 p.m. (PDT) in the lobby of the Lied Athletic Complex. Hot dogs, music and entertainment will be provided and then at 6:30 p.m. the student-athletes will cap the night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, where UNLV will be hosting BYU to open the Rebels home Mountain West Conference schedule.
The Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas and Blazin 97.5 FM are sponsoring the events. For more information, contact Janice Henry at (702) 895-0656.
