UNLV Hosts National Student-Athlete Day
April 7, 2004
LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will hold their annual National Student-Athlete Day on Saturday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Ernie Becker Sr. Football Practice Field on the campus of UNLV.
The National Student-Athlete Day, established 11 years ago by Sport in Society and the National Consortium For Academics and Sports, is now co-sponsored by the NCAA. Each April, the annual celebration is designed to recognize parents, teachers, coaches and school systems that make it possible for student-athletes to learn how to study while competing in athletics.
Both the Department of Athletics and the SAAC invite the public to attend and celebrate this day. Clinics and educational sessions will be held throughout the day for children, emphasizing athletic skills, agility, self-esteem and respect, setting goals, and the importance of school and learning. A free lunch will be provided at the end of the day.
For more information about the day's events or for questions about registration, please contact UNLV Associate Athletic Director and Champs/Life Skills Coordinator Eric Toliver at (702) 895-1314.
