Women's Golf & Women's Tennis At UNLV Recognized By NCAA

April 13, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The NCAA released the Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Awards Wednesday, which based on the most recent multiyear scores recognize the nation’s top 10 percent in their respective sports.

UNLV’s women’s golf and women’s tennis both have perfect 1000 multiyear scores, placing them in the top 10 percent of all squads in the country. This is the second straight year that women’s golf earned this public recognition, while women’s tennis also earned it in 2007-08 and 2009-10.

The Rebel women’s golf team is currently ranked No. 17 in the nation and has six top-three finishes this year in 10 events. The team has also recorded two team titles this season.

UNLV’s women’s tennis squad is on a record-breaking tear this year, off to a 20-1 start.

The APR is an annual scorecard for eligibility and retention calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally.

All Division I teams’ APR scores will be released April 20. All teams must meet a certain academic threshold to qualify for the postseason and can face penalties for continued low academic performance. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport.

The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years.
