LAS VEGAS -
The UNLV athletics family is deeply saddened by the death of Rebel Girl Lindsay Bennett, who passed away Friday from injuries suffered in a car accident Wednesday night. She was 18 years old.
A life-long resident of Henderson, Nev., Bennett was born on April 20, 1990, and graduated from Coronado High School in 2008, where she was an honor student, accomplished dancer and member of several clubs, including the National Honor Society. Bennett took the next step in her life in the fall of 2008, enrolling in UNLV and majoring in interior architecture and design, while also becoming a member of the Rebel Girls.
Bennett put her whole heart into everything and lived selflessly. She loved to surround herself with joyous things like her family, true friends, chocolate and bright colorful flowers. She was a happy, loving person with an infectious smile.
Lindsay is survived by her parents, Mike and Jan, and her brother Andrew.
A memorial service in Bennett's honor is scheduled at the Moyer Student Union Courtyard on the campus of UNLV on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services for Bennett have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Community in Henderson.
Gifts in memory of Lindsay Bennett may be given to UNLV for the UNLV Foundation Scholarship Fund for a scholarship in tribute to Lindsay. Checks may be issued to the UNLV Foundation and sent to: UNLV Foundation, 4505 Maryland Parkway Box 451006, Las Vegas, NV 89154-1006.
