June 27, 2017
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois announced the hiring of John Gladchuk as senior associate athletics director for external affairs on Tuesday.
Gladchuk will start at UNLV in July and is responsible for leading all facets of the comprehensive athletic revenue development program, including the continued growth and evolution of the Rebel Athletic Fund.
In addition, he will manage the multimedia rights for UNLV Athletics and provide oversight of select sports programs.
"We are pleased to welcome John and the Gladchuk family to the Rebel Athletics family," Reed-Francois said. "As a former student-athlete himself, John understands the importance of providing resources for our student-athletes, coaches and staff to be successful in today's ever-competitive landscape.
"Having worked alongside John raising revenue at Virginia Tech, I have seen firsthand his proven ability and experience in cultivating genuine relationships with donors and constituents. He brings a thoughtful and analytical approach coupled with an unyielding work ethic. I trust that he will work well with Erick Harper and the dedicated fundraising team and volunteers we already have in place."
Gladchuk comes to UNLV from Louisiana State University where he has been the executive director of corporate and foundation relations for the LSU Foundation since early 2016. In that role, he led a collaborative and comprehensive corporate and foundation fundraising program, which delivered philanthropic resources essential to LSU's mission and emerging strategic plan.
He also worked with LSU Athletics across a multitude of areas including LSU Sports Properties, marketing and fundraising initiatives.
"With tremendous leadership in place, UNLV Athletics is positioned for a new era of excellence," Gladchuk said. "I'm honored to have the chance to contribute and would like to thank Desiree Reed-Francois and President Jessup for this incredible opportunity. We will draw on our experience and the strength of the Las Vegas community to deliver resources essential to championship success."
Prior to working at LSU, Gladchuk was the director of corporate and foundation relations at Virginia Tech from 2013-16, and was in a similar role at Clemson University from 2011-13. He also was director of advancement strategy programs at the College of Charleston from 2008-11. While at Virginia Tech, he contributed significantly to a record fundraising year in 2015-16.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University in 2000, a master's from California State University, Fullerton in 2004, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside in 2006. As a student-athlete, Gladchuk played golf at LMU and Boston College. His father, Chet, is the athletics director at the Naval Academy, and his grandfather (Chet Sr.) is in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Gladchuk and his wife, Lisa, have two boys, Luke (8) and Lane (4), and a daughter, Holland (6).
