UNLV Has 75 Earn Spring Academic All-MW Team Status

Spring 2017 Academic All-Mountain West Team: Release | List

LAS VEGAS ( - UNLV had a total of 75 student-athletes named to the Spring 2017 Academic All-Mountain West Team, the league announced. The Rebels have boasted at least 75 representatives on the spring list for 14 consecutive years.

Two Rebel programs hit double digits this year with women's swimming & diving and baseball represented by 17 and 11 student-athletes, respectively.

Both softball and women's track & field had nine apiece, while men's tennis and women's tennis had seven each. Fifteen more came from a combination of women's basketball (five), men's golf (four), women's golf (four) and men's basketball (two).

If you include the four men's swimming & diving student-athletes previously tabbed to the 2017 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference Team, UNLV had a total of 79 individuals recognized for their efforts in the classroom this spring.

For the 2016-17 academic year, the Scarlet & Gray had 124 student-athletes -- 115 MW and nine WAC in two sports -- earn either fall or spring honors.

Overall, 986 student-athletes were named to the Spring 2017 Academic All-MW Team. Spring sports include baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track & field.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MW Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their team.
