Aug. 9, 2001
LAS VEGAS - A billboard advertising the Cox Pavilion Combo, which is a combination season ticket plan for the UNLV volleyball and women's basketball programs for the 2001-02 season, is now in place on the Desert Inn Arterial, the UNLV sports marketing department announced Thursday.
The billboard marks the first time in UNLV athletics history that such an advertisement promoting tickets sales for women's sports has been seen in the Las Vegas Valley. The billboard faces west as commuters drive on Desert Inn just east of Valley View. It features an image of Shannon Chase of the volleyball team and Linda Fröhlich of the women's basketball team along with the slogan, "Your Best Ticket to a New Era."
The perks of the Cox Combo ticket plan are reserved seating, an autographed volleyball poster, and autographed women's basketball poster, a volleyball media guide, a women's basketball media guide, two tickets to a UNLV spring athletic event, an invitation to a post-game mixer with the volleyball team and an invitation to the annual Meet the Lady Rebels Night. The combo is a $175 value for only $60. It is $40 for seniors and UNLV faculty/staff and $15 for kids in the 8th grade and younger with a Junior Rebel Club membership.
The Cox Pavilion is the new facility that is connected to the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus and will be the permanent home to the volleyball and women's basketball teams. The arena level will seat approximately 2,500 fans. The first UNLV athletics event to be held in the building will be on Sept. 7 as the volleyball team hosts the Gameworks-UNLV Invitational.
