UNLV Signs Three-Year Agreement With ESPN Radio 920
Aug. 18, 2005
LAS VEGAS - UNLV Athletics and Lotus Broadcasting have entered into a new three-year agreement to keep ESPN Radio 920 in Las Vegas as the radio home of the Rebels, the athletics department announced Thursday.
For the seventh consecutive season, all UNLV football and men's basketball games will air live on ESPN Radio 920.
"We are thrilled to continue our outstanding relationship with Lotus Broadcasting and ESPN Radio 920," said Mike Hamrick, Director of Athletics at UNLV. "They have done a great job over the years and we are excited about the future of our partnership."
For the second straight season, Dave McCann will handle the play-by-play announcing duties for football. He will be joined in the booth by men's basketball play-by-play voice Jon Sandler, who is in his second season with the football broadcast team and first handling the game analyst responsibilities.
"We are very pleased to be extending our partnership with UNLV Athletics," said John Hanson, program director for ESPN Radio 920. "UNLV football and men's basketball have been key elements to the success of ESPN Radio 920 for a long time. Coach Sanford, Coach Kruger and their staffs give Rebel fans great reason for optimism and a great reason to catch all the action on ESPN Radio 920."
The Mike Sanford Radio Show will also be heard live on ESPN Radio 920 on a weekly basis beginning Thursday, Sept. 1. The coach's radio program will be held at a location still to be determined and with the exception of Wednesday, Sept. 7 (because of conflict with the opening of the NFL season), the show will be heard every Thursday from 7-8 p.m. through Nov. 17.
The Rebels open the 2005 season by traveling to New Mexico for a special Monday morning game on Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. PDT.
UNLV's five-game home schedule kicks off Saturday, Sept. 10 vs. Idaho at 7 p.m. Season tickets are available now by calling (702) 739-FANS or logging on to www.unlvtickets.com.
