Rebel Kids Club 'Kick Off' Event

LAS VEGAS ( - The UNLV Athletics Department’s Rebel Kids Club, presented by NSR/Rapport Leadership will hold its 2010-11 season “Kick Off” event this Saturday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Cox Pavilion.

At the event, Rebel Kids Club members will be able to pick up their membership packages, which include a Rebel Kids Club t-shirt and membership card, along with other sponsored coupons and items. There will be a photo area for pictures with UNLV’s beloved Hey Reb mascot and other fun activities.

Associate sponsors for the club include Jason’s Deli, The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Massage Envy, Meadow Gold and U-Swirl.

Rebel Kids Club members also receive exclusive benefits and opportunities including free admission to all UNLV Athletics events and the opportunity to purchase up to four half-priced tickets (some exceptions do apply), free admission to exclusive Rebel Kids Day events, and a premier package that includes: official club t-shirt, membership card, e-newsletters, e-birthday card from Hey Reb and other experiential UNLV Athletics benefits.

Some of those benefits and experiences include meet and greet opportunities with UNLV student-athletes and coaches, as well as photograph and autograph sessions. Kids Club members also spend time with UNLV’s beloved Hey Reb mascot, the UNLV Cheerleaders and the Rebel Girls.

Before select games, UNLV Cheerleaders conduct specially guided tours of UNLV’s athletics facilities such as Sam Boyd Stadium and the Thomas & Mack Center. Rebel Kids Club members are invited to watch pregame warm-ups for select games and receive an opportunity to be named “Honorary Captain.” Honorary Captains sit on the bench and are a part of team announcements. Other tours include the Lied Athletic Complex where the student-athlete weight room and football and other sports locker rooms are located.

On Rebel Kids Days, members gain early access to UNLV games and experience a carnival-like atmosphere with numerous activities including moon bounces, face painting, music, games and mascot competitions. A Kids Cam is set up at the football and men’s basketball games, where young UNLV fans are shown on the large screens during timeouts.

Rebel Kids Club members are invited to participate in promotions on the court as well, such as the McDonald’s Dress and Drive and dance-offs with Hey Reb. Club members also receive opportunities to watch practices for all UNLV Athletics teams.
