LAS VEGAS - Christian Hardigree has been named associate athletics director for community development and special projects, UNLV Interim Athletics Director Jerry Koloskie announced Monday.

Hardigree most recently served as UNLV's Assistant President/Chief of Staff and was an associate professor and the department chair for UNLV's Hotel Management Department in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration.

As an associate athletics director, Hardigree is a member of the department's senior staff and will focus on sport specific fundraising initiatives, community marketing projects and will also assist with other special projects.

"We are delighted to have someone of Christian's ability and experience join our team," Koloskie said. "The diverse background that she brings in both higher education and law will be a great asset to not only our senior staff, but in our entire athletics department as well."

In the College of Hotel Administration, Hardigree teaches both graduate and undergraduate classes, including Hospitality Law, Laws of Innkeeping and Food Service, Hospitality Employment Law, and Laws in Sports and Leisure Studies. She has been teaching courses at UNLV since 1997.

In addition to her educational obligations, Hardigree has an extensive background as a trial attorney practicing primarily in the areas of premises liability, security/safety, products liability and employment law. She maintains an active caseload at the firm Parnell & Associates, including private consulting and mediation/arbitration services. She is also a state appointed arbitrator for Nevada's mandatory arbitration program. She is licensed to practice law in Nevada and Georgia and also serves as a consultant for numerous Strip properties in Las Vegas on a variety of litigation issues.

Hardigree earned her bachelor's degree from UNLV in 1993 and earned her law degree in 1996 from Mercer University.
