Musovski Named Outstanding Rebel Of The Week|
Oct. 11, 2017
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's soccer senior Danny Musovski has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday. Musovski is the first back-to-back winner in the 2017-18 academic year.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.
Musovski, a local product out of Henderson, scored three goals in the first 25 minutes in the Rebels' win at San Jose State for his second hat trick in a three-game span. The senior also registered an assist to give him seven points in the game, tying the WAC record for most points in a league contest. His first goal gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead, while his second and third goals came after the Spartans had scored two of their own. The third, which came in the 25th minute, proved to be the game-winner in the eventual 5-2 victory. Musovski, who turned in a nine-point game two weeks ago, owns the top-two point performances in the country this season and ranks fourth in total points (22) and fifth in total goals (9) despite missing four games this year. The forward also moved into fourth place all-time in Rebel history with 103 career points.
Musovski's play earned him conference and national accolades as he was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week and the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, with the latter honor being the fourth of his career. He is just the second Division I player in the eight-year history of the award to be honored twice in the same season, and is the only Division I player to have been named National Player of the Week three times by United Soccer Coaches.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels return to Peter Johann Memorial Field for a pair of home conference games, starting on Friday at 7 pm against UTRGV. That’s followed by a Sunday match against Incarnate Word at 1 pm. The UTRGV contest will be NYS Night for Rebel Soccer, while the Sunday contest is designated as this year’s Kick Cancer game, and the Rebels will wear pink jerseys for the contest. All fans wearing pink to the UIW game will receive $3 admission.
Single game ticket prices this season are $8 for adults, $6 for faculty/staff and seniors, or a special internet price of $5 is available for all tickets bought online at UNLVTickets.com, good up to three hours before game time. Kids 12 and under are always free at UNLV men's soccer contests.
