LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team defeated Air Force, 17-10, during the second game of the conference home-opener Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels improved their overall record to 11-8 (5-0 MW), while the Falcons saw their record drop to 6-11 (1-3 MW).
REBEL OF THE GAME: Braden Murphy went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored for the Rebels.
TURNING POINT: The ballgame was tied 3-3 going into the home half of the fourth frame, only for the Rebels to pull ahead, 9-3, with six RBIs - including Hank Zeisler's fourth homer of the season.
Noah Beal (3-0) earned the win after pitching 2.0 innings of reliefs, allowing only one run on two hits and two punchouts.
Rob Martin (1-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season after pitching 3.1 innings, allowing nine runs off of 11 hits and only two strikeouts.
UP NEXT: UNLV will close out the three-game conference home-opening series against Air Force Sunday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
