RIVERSIDE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team defeated UC Riverside, 6-2, during their single-game, midweek affair Tuesday afternoon at the Riverside Sports Complex in Riverside, California.
The Rebels improved their record to 13-8 (6-0 MW), while the Highlanders saw their record fall to 1-17 (0-3 Big West).
REBEL OF THE GAME: Edarian Williams went 2-for-5 at the plate for the Rebels, scoring two runs, including his second homer of the season, and had four RBI.
TURNING POINT: The Scarlet & Gray had a two-run lead going into the top of the third frame, only to have a homer from Williams drive in Joey Walls and Hank Zeisler to increase their lead by three more runs.
Josh Sharman (1-0) earned his first win of the season after pitching all 9.0 innings for the Rebels with 11 punchouts and only allowing two runs on six hits.
Kyle Anderson (0-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season after only pitching one innings and allowing two runs on two hits and only striking out one.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will continue conference play with a three-game series against San Jose State held at Excite Ballpark In San Jose, California, beginning Friday, March 25 at 6:05 p.m.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Rebels will return to Las Vegas for a single-game contest against Arizona State held at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerlin Tuesday, March 29.
