Lorena Diaconescu begins her first season as an undergraduate assistant coach after one of the most successful and decorated careers in UNLV swimming history.
In her four years as a Rebel, Diaconescu earned three straight Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Year awards, two UNLV Sportswoman of the Year awards, and All-America honors in 2000 and 2001. She also participated in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic games for her home country of Romania.
Diaconescu leaves her mark on the UNLV all-time swimming record book as well, holding school records in six separate events (100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 200 IM, 200 medley and 800 free relay).
Diaconescu is currently finishing her degree in international business.
