Rebels Tie, Drop Two Meets On Senior Day|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished their regular season on Saturday by taking on Wyoming and the Nevada, Reno women's squad in two duals meets on the Rebels' Senior Day at Buchanan Natatorium. The Rebels rallied with wins in the final two events to force a tie with the Wyoming men, 149-149, while UNLV's women dropped to Wyoming 193-106, and to UNR by a 150-133 score.
In the men's meet, the Rebels won a total of eight events, including both relays. They started off with a first-place performance in the 400 medley relay, as Henrique Machado, David Szele, Balint Batka and Tom Paco-Pedroni posted a time of 3:17.55. Paco-Pedroni added two individual wins for UNLV, as he won both sprint free events, the 50 free in 20.43 and the 100 free in 44.46.
Giacomo Gremizzi, in his final home meet for UNLV, was a double-event winner as well with victories in the 200 breast (2:03.20) and the 200 IM (1:49.56). Machado won the 100 back (49.68), and the 200 free relay squad of Paco-Pedroni, Machado, Samuel Lameynardie and Dylan Tarazona turned in a time of 1:21.31 to place first.
On the women's side, the Rebels posted six second-place swims. Senior Rachel Dixon led the way, placing second in the 100 back (57.42) and in the 50 free (23.73). Also earning second place finishes were Elena Gavrilova in the 100 free (51.80), Jessica Wong in the 200 back (2:05.62), senior Katelyne Herrington in the 100 fly (55.76), and the 200 free relay team of Gavrilova, Julia Fehervari, Jessica Heim and Dixon (1:34.63).
The next action for both Rebel teams will be their conference championships. The women will compete in the Mountain West Championships on Feb. 19-22, while the men will participate in the WAC Championships on Feb. 26-March 1, with both meets being held in San Antonio, Texas.
