OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - A pair of top-three relay finishes carried UNLV to fourth place after the first day of action on Wednesday night at the 2012 Mountain West Championships, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center. The four-day meet continues Thursday and Friday before concluding on Saturday night.

UNLV finished the night with 78 points. Thanks to strong performances from its diviers, Boise State holds the first day lead with 108 points, while close behind is San Diego State in second with 101 and New Mexico in third with 99. Following UNLV is Wyoming in fifth (76), Colorado State in sixth (64), TCU in seventh (55) and Air Force in eighth (46).

The night's first event was the 200 medley relay. Junior Carmen Robb, senior Marley Prothero, sophomore Katelyne Herrington and sophomore Rachel Dixon posted a third-place time of 1:39.53. That was both a new school record as well as a NCAA 'B' provisional time.

On the 1-meter diving, Mariah Skeen led the Rebels with a ninth-place score of 263.45. Rachelle Zuccaro also scored in the event, placing 14th (214.90).

The night ended with the 800 free relay, and UNLV narrowly out-touched San Diego State by .12 seconds to place second. Making up the relay squad was sophomore Jessica Heim, junior Brittany Ozar, senior Friderika Szel and freshman Jessica Marsh.
