The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving team will host Air Force and the Nevada, Reno women's squad in dual meet action Saturday morning at 10:30 am, at the Jim Rietz Pool at UNLV. The Rebels have been idle since December 2nd, for winter training. Both teams are conference rivals of the Rebels, the Air Force men as part of the WAC, while the Falcon women and UNR compete against the Rebels as part of the Mountain West conference.
Setting the pace for the Rebel men this season has been freshman Brad Gonzales, who holds the fastest 500 free time in the WAC (4:22.72). He's followed by Grant Norgan who ranks second in the event, while is first in the 200 free (1:37.06).
Leading the Rebel women, is Sofia Carnevale who holds two first place times in the MW in the 100 breast (1:00.67) and the 200 breast (2:12.72). Kyndal Phillips also holds a first place time in the 200 back (1:55.74).
"This will be a great rivalry weekend. We have Reno on the women's side of course - they are very deep, and always have some of the best divers in the country. And for the men, Air Force is a long-time rival. We match up very well this year, so are excited to go head-to-head."
