LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV sophomore Sofia Carnevale was selected to compete for the Rebels at the 2018 Division 1 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held this year at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavillion in Columbus, Ohio from March 14-17. Carnevale is currently ranked 29th in the nation for the 100 breast with a time of 59.87 after winning the event at the MW Championships, and is the first Rebel woman to advance to the NCAA championahips in two years.
The Rebels will be seeking to add to their NCAA team when the divers compete at the NCAA Zone qualifier March 5-7 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
"Sofia just barely missed the selection last year, and that really set the tone for her whole season. She has worked hard for 12 months to make this a reality, and she definitely deserves to be competing at the fastest swim meet on the planet. It is also exciting that she is just a sophomore, which means that she has time to set some new goals as she comes a bigger and bigger player at this level "
