Delay Named Outstanding Rebel Of The Week

Oct. 25, 2017

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's swimmer Sara Delay has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.

Delay, a senior transfer in her first year at UNLV, had an impressive debut with the Scarlet & Gray in the 194-101 win over CSU Bakersfield last weekend. She won three individual events against the Roadrunners, claiming the 50 (23.71), 100 (51.63) and 200 free (1:51.79) races with times that rank sixth, second and third in the Mountain West, respectively. Delay added another top finish as she swam on the winning 400 free relay team to give her four total wins on the day. For her performance, the Concord, California, native received recognition from CollegeSwimming, earning Mountain West Swimmer of the Week honors.

The Rebels will be back in action for an exhibition meet against Toronto in Las Vegas Oct. 28 before heading to Salt Lake City on Nov. 4 for a dual meet at Utah.
