LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Balint Batka was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Swimmer of the Week, it was announced by the league office this week.

Batka, a freshman and native of Budapest, Hungary, won a team-high three individual events during the three-day UNLV Winter Invitational, hosted by the Rebels on Dec. 17-19 in Buchanan Natatorium. His first victory came in the 500 free, in a time of 4:33.89, and Batka also posted wins in the 200 fly (1:48.10) and in the 100 back (50.34). He also added a runner-up swim in the 200 IM (1:53.56) and was third in the 100 fly in 49.36. Batka swam on the second place 800 free relay, and helped his 200 and 400 medley relays to third place finishes. Currently Batka is ranked first in the MPSF and 19th in the nation in the 200 fly.

The next competition for the 19th-ranked UNLV men's squad will be on Saturday, Jan. 21 with a road dual meet at UC Santa Barbara.
