Rebels Bully Bulldogs 4-0|

STOCKTON, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels (5-3) finished the weekend 2-2, after shutting out Gonzaga 4-0 Saturday afternoon in Stockton, Calif.
UNLV added two more runs in the sixth inning when Tomassetti singled to right field driving in VanMeetren and freshman Joey Armstrong. The Rebels added one more in the eighth when Armstrong doubled to left field, scoring sophomore pinch runner Joey Swanner.
Armstrong led the Rebels, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Tommassetti led the team with three RBI, finishing the game 1-for-3.
Freshman Kenny Oakley earned his first collegiate win, pitching 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts. He only allowed two hits and walked two batters. Senior Andrew Beresford came in for relief in the eighth, and only allowed one hit in his 2.0 innings.
Gonzaga's Tyler Olson pitched a complete game, eight innings, giving up eight hits and three earned runs.
The Rebels were able to record their first shut out of the season and first since May of last season when the Rebels beat Sacramento State 12-0.
UNLV will return home and play five games in five days. The Rebels will host the Rebel Classic which starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday. The Rebels will open the tournament against Bradley at 7:35 p.m. Loyola Marymount and Hawai'I will also partake in the tournament. UNLV will also play a Monday game against Hawai'I that is not part of the Rebel Classic.
