LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (7-3) completed its series sweep over Air Force (3-6) on Sunday with a 12-1 victory. The Rebels will be back in action on Monday at 3:05 p.m. as they host UC Riverside (5-5).
The Rebels took an early lead after Joey Armstrong led off the game with his third triple of the season. He scored on the next pitch when Air Force's catcher Brian Sicher couldn't hold on to a passed ball, giving UNLV a 1-0 lead.
In the second and third innings, the Rebels scored three runs in each of the frames to give them a 7-0 lead.
The Falcons' Noah Price hit his first home run of the year in the top of the fourth inning to get Air Force on the board.
UNLV added two runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh frame to extend its lead to 12-1.
Sophomore Bryan Bonnell pitched a gem, allowing only one run on five hits and struck out six in 7.2 innings of work. Bonnell has pitched 22.2 innings this season and has yet to allow a walk. Andrew Encinas and Matt Thomas each got 0.2 innings of work to close out the game.
