UNLV Wraps Up Rebel Classic With Win.|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels (9-3) finished the Rebel Classic undefeated with a 12-4 win over the Hawai'i Rainbow (1-11) on Sunday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels started early, scoring five runs in the opening frame and were up to a 7-0 lead by the end of the third inning. In the fifth inning, they plated five more runs to take a 12-0 lead.
The Rainbow fought back, scoring two runs in eighth inning and two more in the ninth to make the score 12-4.
Freshman Kenny Oakley earned his second win of the season on another stellar outing. He went 6.2 innings allowing no runs on five hits while striking out five.
Leading the Rebels from the plate was senior Mark Shannon, who finished 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and one run scored. Junior Matt McCallister also finished the game with three hits, going 3-for-5 with with an RBI and scoring one run.
Joey Swanner, Brandon Bayardi, Justin Jones, Joey Armstrong and Scott Tomasseti all finished the game with multiple hits. Sophomore T.J. White led UNLV with three RBI. White and Bayardi also each recorded their first triples of the season.
As a team, The Rebels recorded a season-high 18 hits to score a season-high 12 runs.
UNLV forced the `Bow's starter Jon Flinn out of the game quickly, as he only pitched a third of an inning where the Rebels scored five runs on five hits.
UNLV will wrap up its five game homestand tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. with a regular season meeting against Hawai'i. The game will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports 920 AM with Marcus Brody on the call.
