Danny Higa was 4-for-4 on the night with a pair of runs scored and an RBI to lead the Rebel offense on the night. The senior Hawaiian native finished a home run away from the cycle. Remington Pullin’s fielder’s choice scored Marvin Campbell before Mark Shannon drove in a run with a single to through the left side. Kirk drew a bases loaded walk in his second at-bat of the inning to cap the scoring in the first for the Rebels.
Bayardi’s fly ball made its way past a diving Marcus Romero in the bottom of the second, giving way to an inside the park home run.
After tacking on a run in the third and fifth, UNLV secured the game with another five-run inning, this time coming in the bottom of the eighth. Southern Utah committed two of its six errors on the night in the eighth, allowing the Rebels to extend the inning.
