RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (34-17, 16-11 Mountain West) completed its sweep over rival Nevada, Reno (24-27, 11-16 MW) with a 15-1 victory on Sunday. The win gives the Rebels three more points in the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy, which is a competition between the UNLV and UNR athletic departments.
The Rebels scored the first two runs of the game in the third inning after neither team scored in the first two innings. UNLV added three more in the fourth before UNR posted its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
The Rebels continued their hit parade, scoring one run in the seventh and seven runs in the eighth. As a team, UNLV finished with 20 hits for the second time this season.
The 14-run margin of victory is the largest victory the Rebels have had over the Wolf Pack since 1980, when UNLV won 23-2.
