LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball's Kyle Isbel and Bryson Stott were named to the Mountain West's 13-member Preseason All-Conference Team, which was voted on by the league's seven head coaches and announced Tuesday. This is the second straight year that Isbel has been tabbed to the MW's preseason squad, while this is the first for Stott.

Both Isbel and Stott have claimed a share of the MW's Freshman of the Year award the past two seasons, as the former was recognized in 2016, while the latter was honored in 2017.

Last week, the duo was selected to Perfect Game's Preseason All-MW Team.

Isbel, a junior from Fontana, California, started 53 games last year (all in center field), and led the team in at-bats (231) and runs (42), and tied for the team lead in multiple-hit games (22). He hit .290 with 67 hits, 21 of which went for extra bases (12 doubles, six home runs, three triples), and knocked in 26 RBI.

Stott began his collegiate career with an 11-game hitting streak that produced a .447 batting average, 21 hits, 10 runs and nine RBI. The local product out of Desert Oasis High School played in 54 games (all at shortstop) and finished the year with a .294 batting average with 63 hits, which included 11 doubles, two triples and one home run.

Isbel and Stott are two of four positional starters, along with Nick Ames (first base) and Nick Rodriguez (infield), returning from the 2017 squad. The Rebels also have five pitchers back that started six or more contests one year ago, including Garrett Poole (14 games), Alan Strong (14) and Paul Richy (11). In all, the Stan Stole-led team welcomes back 23 letterwinners and has 12 newcomers donning the Scarlet & Gray this season.

REBELS PICKED FIFTH: For the third time in as many years the UNLV baseball team was predicted to finish fifth overall in the MW's Preseason Coaches Poll. The Rebels; however, received one of seven first-place votes and collected 21 points. New Mexico, the defending MW regular-season champion, was picked to win this year's title after it claimed three of the first-place votes and tallied 31 points. San Diego State received two first-place votes to come in second with 29 points, while Fresno State was third with one first-place vote and 23 points. UNR edged UNLV by one point (22) to take fourth. Air Force and San Jose State rounded out the poll in sixth (11 points) and seventh (nine).

QUOTABLE: "We put little stock in preseason predictions," said Stolte. "We're going to keep going about our business and hopefully compete for championships here at UNLV. I'm happy Kyle and Bryson are thought of as top players; something we already knew. They more we win, the more individuals will get recognized; so it would be nice to have a handful in that situation at the end of the year."
