UNLV Baseball's Ryan Olson And Andy McCulloch Named to All-MWC Team.

LAS VEGAS - UNLV baseball had two players named to the Inaugural All-Mountain West Conference team. Sophomore left-hander Ryan Olson was named to the first team starting pitcher and senior right-hander Andy McCulloch was named second team relief pitcher. Olson has recorded a solid season. He is 6-2 and leads the team in complete games and victories. He has pitched 70 innings, allowed 67 hits and has struck out 65. He was named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week on April 24. He tied the UNLV school record with 15 strikeouts against Utah on April 20.
McCulloch, in his fourth season from Western High School, has been brilliant in
the closer role. He has appeared in 21 games and has a 1.55 earned run average in
29 innings pitched. He has recorded 8 saves which ranks tied for second in a UNLV
single season (9 by Rob Luce in 1996). He has recorded 13 career saves which
ranks tied for second (16 by Sean Johnson from 1986-88 and Jimmy Smith from
1997-99). He was named the MWC Pitcher of the Week on April 17.
