May 15, 2018

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball's Trevor Horn and Nick Rodriguez were named the Mountain West's Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, after they helped the Rebels to a series win over intrastate rival UNR last weekend. This is the first career accolade for Horn and the second for Rodriguez.

Horn pitched 6.1 innings in Saturday's 8-1 victory over the Wolf Pack. The right-hander from Scottsdale, Arizona, struck out two batters and allowed only one unearned run off of five hits. He threw three 1-2-3 innings and walked none.

Rodriguez hit .500 against Wolf Pack pitching with seven hits, three of which went for extra bases with two home runs and one double. The second baseman from San Fernando, California, registered a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base percentage, while adding four RBI and three runs. He had at least one hit in all three games with multiple-hits in two of those. In game two, he went 4-for-5 with three extra base hits that resulted in two RBI and two runs. In the field, he was perfect in 14 chances with eight assists and six putouts.

Rodriguez previously won the MW's weekly honor on April 16, while fellow Rebel teammates Nick Ames, Kyle Isbel, Max Smith and Bryson Stott have also been recipients of award.
