Local Kids Get Treated to a Night with the Runnin' Rebels

Las Vegas -- Approximately 100 underprivileged youths will be attending the UNLV Runnin' Rebel Basketball game Monday thanks to the contributions of the UNLV Student Sports Marketing Association.

In addition to a ticket to the game, the children representing groups from Child Haven, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Nevada, Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas and Orr Middle School will be treated to a locker room tour and a chance to attempt a basket on the court before the game.

The Student Sports Marketing Association was created one year ago with the intention of providing on-hands experience to UNLV students interested in a career in sports marketing. The function of the Student Sports Marketing Association is to provide an awareness of and increase student attendance at UNLV athletic events.

The Student Sports Marketing Association is advised by the UNLV Sports Marketing Department. There are currently 14 members in the association and student Scott Morrow is the director of the organization. For information about the UNLV Student Sports Marketing Association, call 895-1529.
