Blassingame begins his second season with the Runnin' Rebels in 2004-05.

JUNIOR (2003-04)

Selected third team All-Mountain West Conference ... one of two Rebels named to the USBWA's All-District VIII team and one of two selected to the 2004 All-MWC Tournament squad ... earned the MWC Player of the Week award on March 1 ... appeared in 31 games and started 29, averaging 33.1 minutes per game ... led UNLV in assists with 6.6 per game and tied for the team lead with 1.2 steals per game ... was fourth on the squad in scoring (11.2) ... shot 38.3 percent from the floor, 40.2 percent from 3-point range (led UNLV) and 70.9 percent from the free throw line ... led the MWC in assists, was third in assist/turnover ratio, tied for 10th in steals, was 11th in 3-point FG made, 13th in 3-point FG percentage and 18th in scoring ... finished the season eighth in the nation in assists and tied for the seventh-best single-game assist total of the season in the country with a career-high 14 against BYU ... scored in double figures 19 times including nine of the season's last 10 games ... recorded double-figures in assists five times ... had four double-doubles in points and assists (all four occurred during a six-game stretch heading into the conference tournament) ... scored 20 or more points in a game twice ... led the team in scoring twice (17 points vs. Utah and career-high 28 at Air Force).


A 2003 graduate of Los Angeles City College ... team finished 36-2 overall in 2002-03 and won the California state championship title ... named most valuable player at the California state tournament and averaged 12 points and six assists per game during the season ... was an All-South Coast Conference selection during his sophomore year ... as a freshman he averaged 16 points and five assists per game and was named to the all-tournament team in the California state playoffs ... team was 30-9 during his freshman year and lost in the championship game of the state tournament ... was All-South Coast Conference as a freshman as well ... coached by Mike Miller ... was a teammate at LACC of fellow Runnin' Rebels Romel Beck and Wilbur Williams.


Attended Redirection High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. ... played AAU ball for the New York Broncos ... named most valuable player of the Albany Classic and Gym Rat Tournament in 2001 ... coached by Tom "Tippy" McTernan.


Jerel Romaine Blassingame was born Sept. 12, 1981, in Brooklyn, N.Y. ... majoring in sociology ... has a son named Jerel, Jr. (5) ... son of Larry and Quendlyn Blassingame ... has one sister, Amanda (27) and four brothers, Larry (28), Donnell (25), Lamont (20) and George (19).
