Rougeau begins his fifth season with the Runnin' Rebel program in 2008-09 ... redshirted as a freshman in 2004-05 ... a walk-on who earned a spot in the starting lineup as a junior and is now on scholarship ... has appeared in 73 career games, making 27 starts ... averaging 5.2 points per game and has shot 50.8 percent for his career.
Earned honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference honors ... played in all 35 games, starting 27 ... moved into the starting lineup against Fresno State and never left ... scored in double figures in 14 games and grabbed 10 or more rebounds five times ... averaged 9.0 points per game and a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game ... swiped a team-high 2.14 steals per game, which was second in the MWC ... had 75 steals on the season, which is the seventh-highest single-season total in UNLV history ... the 75 steals were also the most in the MWC during the 2007-08 season ... had a team-best four double-doubles ... shot 50.8 percent from the floor and 71.0 percent from the free-throw line ... In his first career start he scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

René Anthony Rougeau was born March 25, 1986, in Sacramento, Calif. ... son of Debra and Glenn Rougeau ... majoring in criminal justice with a minor in sociology ... is scheduled to graduate in the fall of 2008 ... has two brothers, Pierre (27) and Sean (21), and three sisters, Dominique (12), Angelique (9) and Monique (3) ... cousin Wayne Powell played on Louisiana Tech's basketball team.
