Assistant Director of Athletic Equipment

A lifelong Texan before coming to Las Vegas, Rocky Rutledge traveled west to UNLV in 1999 to begin serving as the Rebels' assistant equipment manager.

Prior to the 2008-09 season, he was promoted to assistant director of athletics equipment. He works with the men's basketball, football, tennis and women's golf programs at UNLV.

A native of Irving, Texas, Rutledge began his career in athletics as a student trainer at R.L. Turner High School. He continued as an athletic trainer while attending Texas Christian University, but then became a football team manager and then an intern in the Horned Frogs' equipment department.

Rutledge has worked as part of three athletic conferences: the Southwest, Western Athletic and Mountain West. He is a veteran of three bowl games - the 1994 Independence Bowl, the '98 Sun Bowl and the 2000 Las Vegas Bowl - as well as the 2000, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournaments with the Runnin' Rebels and three NCAA track championships at TCU. He has also worked with other events while working at UNLV including the 2007 NBA All-Star Game, USA Basketball and the NBA Summer League.

He graduated from TCU in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis on fitness promotion and kinesiology. He married the former Paulette Tinman in summer 2013.
