Kreigh Warkentien is in her sixth year with the UNLV men's basketball program.
In her first five seasons she held the role as Director of Basketball Operations, and during the summer of 2015, she was promoted to assistant athletics director. This past summer she transitioned into the role as assistant athletics director of alumni relations and special Events.
Her responsibilities include managing the Legends Program for former student-athletes, working with the Runnin' Rebels Club, organizing special events and promoting community outreach. In addition, she will continue to work closely with the development of the program's facility upgrades, marketing, and social media efforts.
As the director of operations, Warkentien worked closely with the entire men's basketball coaching staff and was the liaison between the coaches and UNLV's athletics administration. Additional duties included, but were not limited to, travel, being the program's summer camp director, working with compliance, facility scheduling and program correspondence. She also assisted with the program's academics, working with the academic support counselor as well as its academic advisor. UNLV men's basketball had 14 graduates in those five seasons. Additionally, she helped with the development of student-athletes, including seven NBA players: Anthony Bennett, Rashad Vaughn, Christian Wood, Patrick McCaw, Stephen Zimmerman Jr., Derrick Jones Jr. and the late Bryce Dejean-Jones.
Warkentien came to the Runnin' Rebels from Arizona State, where she was the program coordinator, working with former Sun Devil head coach Herb Sendek. She was responsible for leading the academic support efforts for the ASU men's basketball program, as well as overseeing travel, equipment, recruiting and training table budgets. She was also involved in the program's community relations and marketing efforts, along with organizing recruiting visits, maintaining databases, handling correspondence and serving as assistant director of the Herb Sendek Basketball Camp.
Prior to being ASU's program coordinator, Warkentien was a student manager at ASU and also worked for the NBA's Portland Trailblazers in game operations.
She earned her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in communication and business from ASU in 2009, and is currently pursing her master's degree at UNLV in Public Administration.
She is the daughter of UNLV graduate Maureen Warkentien and Mark Warkentien, who is a former UNLV men's basketball assistant coach (1981-87), was the NBA Executive of the Year with the Denver Nuggets in 2009 and is currently the New York Knicks' director of pro player personnel.
