ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Bryce Dejean-Jones scored 23 points Wednesday to lead UNLV to a 76-73 win over New Mexico. It was the Runnin' Rebels' first win at The Pit since 2011.
The game turned early when Cameron Bairstow, who finished with 27 points, went to the bench with two fouls and 14:24 remaining. That set up UNLV (11-6, 2-2 Mountain West) for 20-3 run behind two 3-pointers from Kevin Olekaibe, ending with a 28-12 Runnin' Rebels advantage.
New Mexico (12-4, 3-1) slowly got back in the game, closing to 74-73 with 1:24 left after Bairstow dropped in two foul shots. But with 30 seconds left he missed a baseline jumper with a defender in his face.
Olekaibe then hit two from the line with 26.8 seconds left.
The Lobos had three chances to tie the game, including a clean look by Cullen Neal on the final play, but the ball hit and rim and bounded away.
