Kambala leads Rebels to 78-66 win over Colorado State.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Kaspars Kambala scored 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead UNLV to a 78-66 win over Colorado St. Saturday to finish regular-season Western Athletic Conference play.

Kevin Simmons added 18 points for UNLV (16-12, 7-7 WAC), while Brian Keefe scored 13 and Tyrone Nesby added 10.

Milton Palacio led Colorado State (20-7, 8-6) with 16 points and eight assists. Jameel Mahmud and James Smith each added 13 points and Matt Barnett scored 12.

The Rebels led by as many as 17 in the second half. But with 1:44 remaining, Colorado St. cut the lead to 69-61 after Palacio hit a jumper and Barnett and Mahmud each made two free throws.

In the last 1:30, UNLV's Keefe hit 5 of 6 free throws and Simmons added two more to seal the victory.

The Rebels led 41-36 at the intermission and outscored Colorado State 17-4 in the first 12:35 of the second half. The Rams made only 1 of 9 shots to start the half.

UNLV shot 46 percent for the game and Colorado State, despite making only 6 of 22 three-pointers, finished at 42 percent. Bryan Christiansen was 1 of 10 from three-point range.
