UNLV Postgame Quotes
March 18, 2011

UNLV Sophomore Forward Quintrell Thomas
On the team's feeling after the game...
"No loss ever feels good. We have seniors going out and we didn't win the game."

On the team's plan going into the game...
"Our game plan was just to slow down the game. In my opinion, [Illinois] played their perfect game from what I saw. They hit every open shot. They made every opportunity they had."

On the team's outlook for next season...
"I'm sure everybody is excited to bring all the players that we have already here back and we have a couple more guys coming in. Everybody is excited for next year."

UNLV Senior Guard Tre'Von Willis
On Illinois' victory...
"Hats off to Illinois. They played a good game, and they won. I don't know what to say about that first half. I think it was more that we didn't do what we wanted to do. They took our passes away and things of that sort, but you live and you learn."

On the loss and his injury during the game...
"Any loss hurts. It just hurts period. This is the last time this group will play together. That's one of the factors why it hurts so much. Midway through the first half, I felt my knee pop. I tried to keep playing through it, but after halftime, I just couldn't do it. It was very disappointing. All year long I've dealt with injuries. Then to come to the biggest game of the season, and I just can't go. I couldn't be out to the battle with my guys. I'm just very disappointed about that."

UNLV Sophomore Guard Justin Hawkins
On Illinois' play in the first half...
"We just came out flat. They came out dictating the game and doing whatever they wanted to on offense. We really didn't compete on our offensive end. We didn't respond well. They controlled the game like we wanted to. They came out first hitting all of their shots. We came out a little flat and then it just kind of snowballed from there."

On adjustments at halftime and the loss...
"I think in the first half we felt embarrassed with our play. But in the second half, we came out fighting a lot harder than we did in the first half. It hurts a lot, especially because of our seniors. We felt like they did so much for our program, and for them to go out like this, it just wasn't what we wanted to do."

Illinois Postgame Quotes

Illinois Sophomore Guard D.J. Richardson
How did you feel tonight after hitting two big threes off the bench in the second half...
"It felt great. I knew that they would have to fall sometime, and its one of the best times this season for them to fall."

Illinois Senior Center Mike Tisdale
What are your thoughts on the win tonight?
"None of us have won an NCAA game in a while. This is a big win for us. Obviously, we want to continue this and keep our season going."

What are your thoughts on facing Kansas?
"Our focus is now on Kansas. They are a great team and nothing is going to be easy. They have been all over the country this season. They have played good teams, and beat good teams. We have to play hard and hope for the best."

What is your mental approach for Sunday's game?
"No one expected us to win tonight. We don't mind being the underdog. It's March, anything can happen. We are going into the game on Sunday with the attitude we can win and we aren't going to be scared."

Illinois Senior Forward Bill Cole
How does it feel winning in the NCAA Tournament?
"It's a tournament win. It's what you dream about when you are a little kid. No one had stage fright and we attacked their pressure and got easy baskets."

How big of a matchup is it facing former Illinois coach Bill Self for you and the team?
"I am sure it is a big story for the University and Fighting Illini Nation. As a team, we will have to leave all of that out of it and go out and try to play the same way we played tonight."
