Adams Leads UNLV To Exhibition Win

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior guard Wink Adams led all scorers with 27 points as the Runnin' Rebels dispatched of Washburn, 74-56, on Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in their only exhibition game of the season.
With a 53-51 lead with over six minutes to play in the game, Adams took over and made back-to-back 3-pointers to ignite a 14-3 run to put UNLV in control.
Adams was 9-of-18 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. The Runnin' Rebels shot 42.1 percent from the field (24-of-57), but were just 5-of-22 from 3-point range for 22.7 percent.
The game was rather sloppy by both teams with a total of 51 turnovers committed, 29 by Washburn.
Washburn was led by William McNeill's 15 points and Lekheythan Malone's seven rebounds. The Ichabods shot 38.1 percent from 3-point range (8-of-21).
Rene Rougeau led all players with eight rebounds, while Tre'Von Willis added nine points and led UNLV in assists with four.
UNLV led 27-22 at halftime and outscored Washburn 30-16 in the paint, 30-19 off turnovers and 10-4 off second-chance points for the game.
