LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Joe Darger scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Curtis Terry had 20 points and six rebounds to lead UNLV over UTEP 84-71 Saturday night.

Darger, a junior forward, went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line for the Rebels (5-2), and Terry went 7-for-9 from the field, including 6-for-8 from 3-point range.

Wink Adams added 14 points and made 10 of 11 free throws for UNLV.

Stefon Jackson led the Miners (4-2) with 22 points, and Marvin Kilgore added 18 points and eight rebounds.

After three ties and five lead changes, the Rebels took the lead for good 17-16 with 8:34 left in the first half.

UNLV led 39-28 at halftime, then built three 16 point leads and never let the advantage go below eight points in the second half.

Terry had 14 first-half points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc.

UNLV was 10-for-22 for 46 percent from 3-point range, UTEP 3-for-22 for just 13 percent. The Rebels shot 74 percent from the free-throw line, the Miners 56 percent.
