White Helps Rebels Sweep Hawaii, 61-58

HONOLULU (AP) - Wendell White's 16-foot jumper with 58 seconds left lifted UNLV to a 61-58 win over Hawaii on Tuesday night.

White led all scorers with 20 points and Wink Adams added 15 for the Rebels, who shot just 36 percent from the field.

UNLV (6-2) swept a home-and-home series with the Rainbow Warriors, winning 73-59 Nov. 10 at Las Vegas.

Matt Gibson, Dominic Waters and Bobby Nash had 11 points apiece for Hawaii (4-4).

Gibson's 3-pointer from the top of the key tied it at 56 with 1:18 left.

However, White, who also grabbed 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, answered back with his baseline shot to put the Rebels up for good.

The Rainbow Warriors committed 20 turnovers to the Rebels' 11. Hawaii went 18-of-39 from the field and the Rainbow Warriors were 18-of-29 from the foul line.

Hawaii took its only lead early in the first half on a 14-foot jumper by P.J. Owsley. UNLV answered back with a Joel Anthony putback to make it 10-9 Rebels.

UNLV led 26-18 at halftime.
