LAS VEGAS (AP) - Keon Clark scored 28 points, Tyrone Nesby added 24 and each grabbed seven rebounds Saturday night as UNLV beat the Air Force Academy 88-77 despite a career-high 40 points by senior guard Jarmica Reese.

Corky Ausborne added 14 points and Kaspars Kambala had 11 for the Rebels (8-5, 1-0 Western Athletic Conference).

Reese, who is from Las Vegas, scored 21 straight Air Force points in the first half. He finished with 16 field goals in 32 attempts and was 6-of-17 from 3-point range.

No other player for Air Force (7-5, 0-2) scored more than nine points.

Reese, who brought a 22.5-point scoring average into the game, had a previous career high of 37 points against Doane College on Nov. 22.

The Rebels led 37-29 at halftime, and extended their lead to 12 points early in the second half before the Falcons went on a 13-2 run to cut UNLV's lead to 50-49 with 10 minutes left.

Ausborne then made two 3-point shots and Nesby added another as the Rebels made it 59-53. Air Force cut the deficit to two points before the Rebels scored 11 straight points to clinch the victory.

The Rebels made 27 of 50 field goal attempts and 23 of 30 free throws while Air Force was 27-of-66 from the floor and 13-of-20 from the foul line.
