Keefe Paces UNLV Past BYU, 76-63
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Brian Keefe scored a season-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead UNLV to a 76-63 victory over Brigham Young on Thursday night.
Keon Clark led the Runnin' Rebels (9-7, 2-2 Big West Conference) with 21 points and Tyrone Nesby added 20.
Danny Bower had 20 points to lead BYU (6-12, 1-3). Ron Selleaze added 12 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out with 4:56 remaining.
The Rebels led 30-28 at halftime, but the Cougars rallied to take a 44-40 lead with 11 minutes remaining.
Keefe put UNLV back in front, 46-44, on two straight 3-pointers.
Bart Jepsen scored inside and Brian Dignan made two free throws to put BYU ahead 48-46, but Keefe made a free throw and Clark converted off an offensive rebound, got fouled and made the free throw to restore UNLV's lead to 50-48.
Kaspars Kambala was fouled on an offensive rebound and Brian Hamilton was charged with a technical foul. Kambala made one of two free throws and Nesby made both technical fouls to put UNLV ahead 64-53. BYU never got within 10 after that.
