LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV sophomore Mike Moser has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through January 29, the league announced Monday. This is the third career weekly accolade for Moser, second straight for a UNLV player and fifth of the season for a Runnin' Rebel overall.

Moser a 6-8 forward from Portland, Ore., led No. 11/13 UNLV to back-to-back overtime road victories at Boise State and Air Force last week, averaging 22.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from the field. He tallied 45 points and 33 rebounds over the two games.

In Wednesday's 77-72 victory over the Broncos, Moser recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds after halftime, and blocked Thomas Bropleh's potential game-winning 3-point attempt with one second left in regulation to force overtime. He finished with a team-best 18 points and career-high 21 rebounds (six offensive), while adding two assists, two steals and two blocks in 34 minutes of action.

On Saturday against Air Force, Moser's free throw with 1:30 left in overtime gave UNLV a 65-61 lead and the Runnin' Rebels held on for the two-point win (65-63). He went 10-of-17 (.588) from the field, while leading all scorers with 27 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds to go with three steals and two assists in 38 minutes of play.

Moser has recorded 12 double-doubles this season, which leads the MW. He has six in his last seven games and four straight. He has tallied 20 or more points in a game this season three times.

The Runnin' Rebels are 20-3 and 4-1 in Mountain West play, tied for first place with No. 17 San Diego State. UNLV has won four straight games and 11 of its last 12, with its only loss over that span at San Diego State on a last-second shot. UNLV has won 20 games before the month of February for the first time since 1987 and at No. 11 in the Associated Press poll has its highest ranking since 1993.

UNLV, which is 12-0 at home for the first time since 1991-92, returns to the Thomas and Mack Center on Wednesday vs. Colorado State at 7:30 p.m. The Runnin' Rebels will then travel to Wyoming on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff. Both games will be televised on The Mtn.
