UNLV Men's Head Basketball Coach Lon Kruger welcomes several of the nation's top basketball coaches and sports fans from all across the country for the first-ever Coaches vs. Cancer® Las Vegas Golf Classic, May 13-14 benefiting the American Cancer Society and Nevada Cancer Institute.

The tournament kicks off Tuesday, May 13 at TPC Summerlin, home of the PGA Tour in Las Vegas, with foursomes competing against some of the best coaching talent in the nation. Range, cart and green fees are included for all golfers as well as gift bags and on-course meals throughout the two-day event.

Following the first day of play, an exclusive reception will follow at the Palms Casino Resort's infamous Hardwood Suite. Golfers and guests will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the coaching elite. Sporting team pride in their best game day wear, guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and live entertainment in the 10,000-square-foot suite equipped with its own basketball court and scoreboard. A silent auction will feature exclusive packages ranging from a private dinner for eight with Coach Kruger and his wife, Barb, prepared by top chef from Louis's Fish Camp to the opportunity to sit courtside with Coach Kruger during a UNLV basketball game.

The second day of play will commence at Southern Highlands Golf Club, one of Las Vegas' most exclusive private golf experiences, on Wednesday, May 14. An awards luncheon will feature KLAS-TV (Channel 8) sports anchor Chris Maathuis presenting the top performers with prizes from Tiffany & Company to close the tournament.

"I lost my dad to cancer, so being part of Coaches vs. Cancer is very personal for me," said Kruger, the 2008 Mountain West Conference and United States Basketball Writer's Association District VIII Coach of the Year. "I have been involved with this event for many years, and I encourage others to be part of this important effort to one day find a cure for this terrible disease. We are all united to win this fight."
