Kruger To Kick-Off So. Highlands Event

LAS VEGAS - Southern Highlands will host its 5th annual Fall Festival 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk this Saturday, October 24. The race, walk, and festival will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 1 p.m. at the Goett Family Park. Race participants have the opportunity to join UNLV Runnin' Rebel head coach Lon Kruger and former Major League Baseball All-Star Wally Joyner on the course.
Kruger will kick-off the beginning of the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk at 9 a.m.
The family event will have something for everyone, including a pumpkin patch, Kids' Zone, carnival games, raffle prizes, costume contest, coloring contest, trick-or-treating for children, food, drinks, and fun for the entire family.
Registration for the run or walk for adults is just $25 before October 24th and $40 on race day and for children under 14, $10 before race day and $20 on race day. Teams may also register for just $20 per person. Day of registration starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday and closes at 8:30 a.m. The Fall Festival is a complimentary event for all to enjoy.
"We're thrilled to be involved with such a fun event that involves so many members of the community and benefits a number of great organizations," Kruger said. "It's a fun time of the year for us as well. It's just a few weeks before our season begins and we enjoy the opportunity to get out with the fans."
Proceeds generated from the 5K Run, walk and raffle ticket sales will be distributed through the non-profit Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation to the Southern Highlands Boys & Girls Club, Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada, and the Children's Heart Foundation. Last year, this event raised over $130,000. Over the past eight years, Southern Highlands Golf Club Charitable Foundation has donated over $7,000,000 to local charities through a variety of events.
