Runnin' Rebels To Play In 2011 LVI|
Dec. 8, 2010
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team will play in the 2011 Las Vegas Invitational at the Orleans Arena on Nov. 25 & 26, 2011 - the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving. The entire field for the tournament has not yet been finalized nor has the information about participants been officially released to the public.
This tournament is an independent tournament and is not an official UNLV event. Tickets to these games will not be included in 2011-12 Runnin' Rebel season ticket packages. These tickets must be purchased separately.
"We're excited for the opportunity for our fans to see us participate in a holiday tournament in Las Vegas," said UNLV head coach Lon Kruger. "It'll be a unique experience and we hope to have a lot of Rebel support in the arena. We'll be facing some great competition."
UNLV has an allotment of tickets that will go on sale - initially to Rebel Athletic Fund (RAF) members and season ticket holders - in late spring/early summer 2011. More information on the UNLV block of tickets will be emailed to RAF members and season ticket holders in May 2011.
Seating in the UNLV allotment will be according to RAF priority points. Therefore, UNLV seating is not guaranteed in the requested price level. An upgrade/downgrade may be necessary (with appropriate up-charge/refund).
Tickets will be sold only as a package. Package prices range from $90-$170 ($90, $117, $138, $170). Single game/day sales are not available. The promoter of the Las Vegas Invitational as well as the Orleans Arena will also be selling a limited number of ticket packages to the event starting today (Wednesday, Dec. 8) with a presale. The regular on sale date is scheduled for Jan. 5.
UNLV has participated in holiday tournaments each of the last two seasons. The Runnin' Rebels won the 2010 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif., this past Thanksgiving weekend propelling them into the national rankings. Last year, the Runnin' Rebels advanced to the championship game of the 2009 Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii over the Christmas holiday.
