Quotes from Utah State vs. UNLV - August 30, 2008

UNLV Head Coach Mike Sanford

"First of all I am very proud of our football team. Obviously you can tell my voice is shot, but it was a great win. I thought we showed a lot of class and I thought we showed a lot of discipline. I think the big plus I would say first of all is that we had no turnovers - we won the turnover battle."

"I thought our offense really executed well and moved the ball well in the first half. We did not put them away like we should have in the second half. To me, you have to be able to put a team away like that. They were blitzing us and they put all kinds of people in the box."

"Overall, it is just a great way to start the season. I love getting a win."

"We played good enough to win. But I think we are going to get better and better on defense. I expect that. "

On the play of Omar Clayton:

UNLV starting quarterback Omar Clayton

"We were very smooth on offense. We weren't perfect but I felt like we did a really

"I was actually as comfortable as I have ever been, I think even more so than high school. It really surprised me. I kind of had nerves earlier in the week, but like I tell Mike (Clausen) all the time, I just got to tell myself that it's just football. It's not like I don't know what I am doing."
