Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

UNLV HEAD COACH Mike Sanford

OVERALL ON THE GAME:

"Just looking at the statistics and what happened in this game, the first thing is that the team, myself and the coaching staff is very disappointed. We believed we were going to beat this team. I think that we didn't move the ball enough on offense."

ON THE BYU RUNNING GAME:

"We didn't stop the run on defense. They ran the ball on us in the second half and that was the story, really."

"One of our focuses on defense is to stop the run and I have to give BYU tremendous credit. They played very physical and very hard and they did a nice job, especially in the second half."

ON DEFENDING MAX HALL AND THE BYU PASSING GAME:

"Looking at the game from the sideline I thought our pass defense was pretty good. I was concerned about that area and I thought we showed some improvement."

ON THE UNLV RUNNING GAME:

"BYU did a nice job. They have a good run defense and we didn't keep drives going. The best deal about running the football is keeping the drive going and we didn't do a good job of staying on the field and converting third downs."

"The way running backs gain yards is by keeping drives going and staying on the field and we did not move the football and stay on the field."

ON THE DIFFICULT NIGHT FOR THE UNLV OFFENSE:

"We did not execute tonight. We didn't make good decisions, didn't block well enough and we didn't run hard enough. We did not do a good job throwing and catching either."

ON THE PLAY OF Beau Bell, WHO HAD 13 TACKLES AND TWO INTERCEPTIONS:

"I thought Beau Bell had an outstanding game. There was a lot of good things on defense and one of them was definitely Beau Bell."
